Baracoa, one of the most divine cities in Cuba – the land where tourists come to experience true heaven. With millions of tourists arriving at Baracoa per year, we are known for our delicious meals and our expertly made alcoholic drinks. Along with our green mountainous landscapes and clear blue sea. Over the years the island has made an increasing development for optimizing our tourism, and the facilities we can provide you as an island.

Baracoa, started out as just a small fishing district, run by locals within the village. However, now with more than 81,000 people living there, it has become the heart of the island. Along with this, Baracoa provides us with 3 major fishing harbors, which are always filled with merry tourists, who take the time out to relax and enjoy the magical views.

Another reason for Baracoa being so popular all year round is for its famously known cuisine. The traditional dishes they have to offer are unlike any other. Cuban Sandwiches are one of our most popular specialties, consisting of two slices of Cuban bread, which is the lightly buttered or brushed with olive oil on the crust, and cut in half horizontally. A coat of yellow mustard is spread on the bread. Then sliced roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss cheese, and thinly sliced dill pickle are added in layers. Another of our popular Cuban dishes is Croqueta. This is a small bread crumbed fried food which are typically made out of ham or chicken. We also have another common variation, which is made out of potato and cheese, and even sometimes made with fish.

Some of the most popular food dishes you will find in Baracoa include:

  • Pizza
  • Dry Coconut
  • Fish steaks
  • Carrot sticks

Take a hike in the depths of our great mountains, and experience views like never before. Meet our wild animals striding through the forest, overlooking the island. Don’t forget to bring your camera! If you are lucky, you may be in with the chance to spot one of our rarest Lizards. He is 3 ft long, and you will tend to find him in and among the branches.

We would also highly recommend taking some time out to explore our historical landmarks. Castillo de la Real Fuerza remains based in the center of Baracoa that have been there since 1860. The castle has a huge story to tell about the wars that have happened around it. The markings engraved in the walls will tell the story in itself. Baracoa has a wide and diverse range of cultural Geography, and we’d suggest reading our page on Geography to learn more.
